Sounds to me like a window without menu's is also less clutter and since
most stuff can be accessed via keyboard shortcuts or popup-menus anyway
maybe we should remove them as well!! I just don't see how the 'easier to
use' clause fits into this....

Please just drop this issue, the little arrows are needed. Just write a 
patch for _your_ desktop and never commit it if it is such a big burden 
for you...
