This is an old subject I don't want to open up again, so I just want 
to say that the balance between companies and volenteer developers 
receiving PR is a personal thing. People want PR, companies wans PR.

If however the companies get PR, they will most probably (again a balance 
thing) use their own PR efforts to point to KDE as well. 

I personally don't mind big company XYZ having posters all over town 
showing they made a KOffice or KDE application. As long as they either
have the logo or the website URL of KDE to go with it.

In the end we all have to 'fight' for the normal people, the people 
who know all those companies but don't know KDE (yet).

Again, I am not commenting on this specific case, just posting some
food for thought, saying that we are still living in a corporate world.
