When i wrote the last message, the backport wasn't visible yet on kde-cvs.

Yes, it gets fixed by your patch.
I tested several versions to find this exact problem, say, the X server 
leaking huge amounts of memory. It did appear without the patch and did not 
appear any more when using sources containing the fix.

Without the patch, the server memory was freed again as soon as the 
process causing the leak had terminated, but not earlier.

I can only imagine that the style declarations reference the stylesheet, the 
stylesheet references the document, the document references X resouces ...

Now that it's in the 2.1 branch, i'd say everything is fine except that 2.1 
as well as 2.1.1 were released without it.
Strange enough that 2.0.1 and 2.0 didn't have this problem...

Hmmm, i think we should publish this as a known problem. I'd feel better, 
however, if we knew _why_ this happened.
What do you think?
