I thought myself about how to call it, when I implemented it (similar to
libcdda detection and some other library detection I don't remeber right
now).  The problem are the three uses of all --with* flags (disabling it
(--without-xx), enabling it (--with-xxx) and enabling it with a specific
setting (--with-xxx=argument).  The user just has to know, that, if there
is a --with-xxx flag, then there is also a --without-xxx thing to disable
everything, so I think documenting --with-xxx=PATH makes the most sense
(after all the argument is the whole difference to the disable/enable
option pair).
