Bigendian display fix - important, but needs testing by PPC user.  Several
code formatting changes which don't affect content, so I can read long lines
without ruining my fingers with excessive scrolling!.  Check for valid 
layer added for several tools.  Changed text string "HSB" to "HSV" as 
the "B" can be confusing with "RGB" also being used on the same panel.
