noo! This method should decide itself what to mark and what not! When you
call makeCompletion(), you store the current cursorposition and the
current text. setCompletionText() is called with the return value of
makeCompletion() and decides how to show the completed text (depending on
the completion mode) and moves the cursor appropriately.

Nobody else should need to care about whether to mark something or not!
