Log Message:
Converted HlManager to use the singleton pattern: HlManager::self().
Cleaner, but also a lot safer (doesn't rely on the compiler to
initialise the variable first, which he didn't do on Solaris apparently).
BTW, there are two other "extern" hacks in toplevel.cpp; you know
what to do ;-)
