this is great - and I should have come up with it years ago :)
Instead of recursing while doing messages, I just grep all Makefile.am
for ^messages: and run this alone. This way you only add a messages
target in the Makefiles that need it and don't break anything.
Besides that a broken Makefile breaks only _one_ pot file instead
of all. Now I have to cleanup all the stuff I added before, but
this is much easier than debugging the make message process for
each module
