Well, I see the same behaviour and thought it was caused by a recent change in 
KLockFile as lsof shows me many of

.kde/share/apps/konqueror/autosave/_1.693.lock (deleted)

After some time all possible file handles are used and Konqueror crashes or 
becomes unusable.
