agreed; and it wouldn't be hard to do either as you note.

i'd like to put the opendesktop applet on the plasma desktop view by default 
in 4.4, but it won't be more than one plasmoid. so this will limit the 
usefulness of that.

the "all in one" applet could include options for what to show as well if that 
matters any.
