I think you introduced a bug with this change. The column I now get for
any newline is 4294967295, which is maximum-1 for a 32bit unsigned
integer. I checked my lexer and it does call location_table->newline
with the proper index (that is with the 0-indexed character that is the
newline).
However the algorithm works fine for any other character on a line...
