yes, it's utterly broken. who knows whether it is did not cause bugs in
kde3? maybe only nobody was able to associate them? whatever, this
should be fixed and backported.

do you want to take care of the other issues i pointed out?
we cannot leave this class completely unworkable just because it is
obsolete - then better delete it.
