I agree, actually. For proko2 both the introduction of the progress 
dialog, and of this config key were by customer request. The forward 
port was by Reinhold's request. Maybe we should get rid of the progress 
dialog altogether, in 3.5, and try to fix the performance problem (in 
kdelibs) instead.
