You're a little behind, Matt. I spent pretty much all day yesterday trying to
fix this; Allen imported a copy of indexlib to alleviate the dependency issue
-- not to mention the tizzy the IRC channel was in. Luis got off the plane
late and did a bunch of fixes at midnight or so.

It already _is_ optional, since about 8 hours ago. Use --enable-indexlib in
configure. This is open-source development, man, trunk from 12 hours ago is
"way too old to accept bugreports for".
