Well, my connection drops a few times a day, for example, and the error
message gets old very quickly even then. If you're on a wireless link with
occasional drop outs, it becomes a major annoyance. I'm not sure if there is
a reliable way to detect a stable or unstable connection, but to me the loss
of information to users with a stable connection is outweighed by the reduced
annoyance for the others. Also, since if the connection cannot be
re-established when you change to another mail, for example, you _will_ get
an error dialog, I think those with a stable connection which goes down are
covered reasonably well.

Well, it's an annoyance. I'm not so sure myself. On the other hand, it's not
dangerous either. Opinions?
