Correct, and that excludes most text-based webbrowsers and 
accessibility-browsers. I'm not sure if thats worth it. At least this way to 
disguise the email address is fully portable across all browsers.

Yes, its probably the only "really" safe way. Another possibility would be a 
server side php script that decodes the email address if the webclient 
establishes a trustable session (e.g. sends a good HTTP Referrer and is 
willing to accept and reproduce a HTTP cookie). Its been reported that those 
web crawler bots don't do that. 

Alternatively only display the email address in an image :/

Anyway, this is good enough to hide the address from typical virus worms and 
similiar. Its better than the "foo at kde dot org" anyway.
