I suspect you will need to use i18n("%1 % of %2") and  i18n("%1 % of %2 
files") because I bet there are languages that translate the "of" differently 
in these two cases. For the latter you may even need this fancy version that 
can do "xx% of 1 file" and "yy% of 2 files" :-}
