Indeed... If such applications exist. This backward compatibility layer has 
not been done since there's no known application using devices:/ or the 
mountwatcher except applications in kdebase.

I'm not against having this layer... I'm just wondering if it's worth the 
effort. devices:/ was not widely used because of some issues in it that 
media:/ try to address.
