I must tell that personally I do not like such a kind of "feature".

It seems to me that it is again the time of cooking each one in its corner.

But then why a common .desktop file specification was created, if it is to 
disable programs for the other desktop. (KDE apps not working in GNOME would 
be one thing, but well working apps no.) So it is only bringing the .desktop 
specification to absurdum and so therefore in extension freedesktop.org too.
