Well, I'd argue thar lirc is a _lot_ more common control device for 
those purposes and yet we have it in kdeutils, while a lot less popular 
and also linux specific joystick module goes in kdebase. 
But if you want to convince me I definitely won't mind you buying me a 
joystick ;)
