It fixes a bug in packages for Debian and other FHS-conscious
distributions, namely that it is impossible to install different major
KDE versions alongside each other.  

I agree that this was on the verge of backportability, but I think it
was still on the good side of the border and noone objected to
backporting of the patch on kde-core-devel.
