it bothers me aesthetically, which is why i posted my original question ...
cornelius and lubos have both echoed my largely unspoken thoughts on the
matter quite accurately. i appreciate your work, especially since it revolves
around the generally un-sexy task of core code maintenance...
perhaps we can agree, however, that this is probably not an optimal
solution... i really hate to undo the work people have put effort into,
especially in the case of this class where the impacts are quite minimal (if
unnecessary) and there is reason for what you did ...
perhaps we can, however, settle on a going-forward policy of not doing this to
other classes.. in fact, i think it may be a very useful discussion whether
we want to move everything into or out of d pointers as much as possible when
we next break binary compat... i'm not aware of any KDE policy on that
matter, and it may be useful to discuss it in advance?
if so, perhaps we could move this discussion to kde-core-devel...
