The fontconfig that comes with XFree 4.3.0 probably will work since it
is the old version. The official fontconfig site is at:

http://fontconfig.org/fontconfig/

and that version (2.1.9x -> 2.2) definitely does not work with KDE 3.1
since KDE does not seem to want to support using pkg-config. Many things
have started using pkg-config, on my own small build system I see 10
pkg-config .pc files. In Debian there are already 179 pkgconfig .pc files
for various libraries. Refusing to support libraries that use pkg-config
is a losing battle, more things are being converted to pkg-config all
the time. Supporing pkg-config instead of rewriting detection scripts
for libraries using pkg-config might help keep the configure script under
32K lines as well (I am not certain of this though).

BTW - Debian uses the official version of fontconfig so that is why
I needed this patch.

Thanks,

Chris
