I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that *all* splashscreens are bad, but
only that useless ones are.  KDevelop has a good excuse IMHO to have a
splashscreen, namely that it has to keep the user waiting while it is 
loading all sorts of plugins.  

Even if your splashscreen is extremely nice ;), making users look at
it every time they run your program without a good excuse is not my
idea of good UI design..
