If it would have done this, there would have been no problem.
I can't remember exactly, but I think it turned every smb://whatever into 
smb:/whatever .
And such things can be handled perfectly in the ioslave itself.

Well, "all hosts" in which workgroup ?
smb:/workgroup does this.
smb:/ gives you all wg's.
smb-url's with double-slash work like http, ftp and so on url's.
