Yes, I don't think this is the way to go. Even if the solution is not perfect 
users will get used to it and changing it all the time will piss them off 
(sort of).

Why not simply say "Please select the items you want to change". Everyone will 
understand that immediately and it would prevent the double "no" and a 
twisted brain. Just IMHO, but I'm not in favor of the current solution.
