Not sure about comments (are they widely used for something useful ? never 
seen anything except a copyright notice in the comments), but resolution and 
stuff is extracted by "file". just run it on an image.

To centralize code. I fear that when we have 200 plugins for 200 
imageformats the stuff tends to become slow.
