Frerich asked me this, too.. my reply is that:

1) All these games call themselves rogue-like
2) News sites that cover them tend to call themselves roguelike news sites
3) the news groups covering the games are rec.games.roguelike.*

If you really want to rename it, I don't care, but roguelike is a fairly 
standard name for the genre already.
