OS/Compiler notes: 

I go to Control Center/system/networking/dialup.  It starts to probe for modem.  I \
stop it and select /dev/ttyACM0 (I have a USB modem).  It finds the modem.  When it \
tries to identify it I get this error (shown below).  

Note that this also happens if I use ksaferppp and setup a connection.  Kppp can \
identify the modem with no problem, however.
