Good point. But I wonder if sending messages to just the user name
works if the user hasn't an account on the machine the message is sent
from?

I think it's better to implement this together with alias expansion,
i.e. expand all names (= not fully qualified email addresses) which
match an alias to the corresponding full email address and append to
all names which don't match an alias some configurable default value,
i.e. "@localhost" or "@company.tld".
But as this will require changes to the GUI and the overall behaviour
of KMail this will have to wait till after KDE2.2 is released.
