Well, the server claims to support APOP, the <155.1413439392@maxis.net.my> 
announces that, but is does not work.

At least when APOP fails for me, for example wrong password, I get an error 
message, but some things have changed in the mean time. For example the 
authentication is now configurable.

Could you please update (kdelibs, kdebase and kdenetwork) and test again?
