Here's something Windows does better is it possible in KDE:

In windows the "My Computer" no matter how you order your desktop appears first in \
any list of icons on the desktop. 

However in KDE I've added an Icon to my desktop for Konqueror and think it would be \
nice if there was a user definable system of specifying that some icons disregard the \
command "Order by Name"

In this way it would be possible to say I want icon X to not be reordered just like \
the My Computer icon does. 

Further more when the icons are displayed on the desktop with a long name they \
display it across the screen but a better solution would be to only display the first \
X number of characters and have the name held in a mouse over tooltip (another \
windowism).
