1.) Does not work here :-((
2.) IMHO not intuitive. I prefer RMB or a menu entry.

Hmm ! good point - it opens a ppp connection even if you do not want it.
same old story - LAN versus PPP arguments.

IMHO the same rule as for POP3 accounts should apply.

the "check mail at kmail startup" should be configurable (per account ?).

if "interval checking" is enabled it should do it (after the first check,
which can be manualy or automaticaly initiated).
