Subject: kword screen update scroll blank
From: hagbard@tao-group.com

Package: kword
Version: KDE 2.1.0
Severity: normal
Installed from: Debian Package 4:2.1-final-0.potato1 (2.2)
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 20000220 (Debian GNU/Linux)
OS: Linux 2.2.18pre21 i686
OS/Compiler notes:

When simply starting a new document in KWord (from the blank A4 template) and then \
inputting more than one line of text, display porblems begin to occur.

1: As text is entered on the 2nd or subsequent line of a paragraph, it will only \
display while the last character entered is *not* a space (tab is okay).

2: If backspace is used to edit the text, then the *last* line on the paragraph is \
not displayed (even if the caret is further up the paragraph).

3: When cursor keys are used to move around the document, paragraphs are not \
nescessarily update as they move in/out of the visible region.

Firstly, I can't believe that a bug of this severity has not been reported already, I \
have looked, but I can't see anything. The closest thing I can see so far is: BUG \
17939 but the description isn't detailed enough for me to determine if it's the same \
thing.

Secondly, I'm guessing it's a page layout/pagmination bug or possibly a bug in the \
underlying widgets (I'm using the current qt2.3 beta and I know there are other \
issues with it).

I would be willing to test this out using libqt2.2.4 but have so far failed in my \
attempts to downgrade the libqt package due to awkward dependency issues with the \
libqt2 migration package. If you can advise me on how to downgrade to libqt2.2.4 in \
debian (from the debian packages optained from tdyc.com) I'd be happy to test things \
out for you.
