Subject: Bug#22859: kppp fails to login if provider requires PAP and CHAP

Package: kppp
Version: KDE 2.1.0
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

I was trying to connect to the german ISP
Compuserve using the Compuserve Pro tariff.
The server requires at first an authentication
using PAP and after that it wants to have a
CHAP authentication.
kppp doesn't work with this. I helped myself
in editing connect.cpp (removing the -chap
and -pap parameters) and linking chap-secrets
to pap-secrets.
How about adding an authentication option
"PAP/CHAP" to kppp that doesn't care about the
protocoll actually used?
