KDE components do not validate passwords for any user. I've tested this with KDM, the \
screensaver utility, and the KDE control panel. This bug seems to have been submitted \
for the screensaver, but I didn't find a bug for the larger problem. Sorry if it's \
redundant.

This is my fourth installation of KDE over existing user files (the default KDE setup \
for RH6.2, KDE 2.0, KDE 2.0.1 and 2.1, all from RH binary RPMs distributed from the \
KDE website).
