can you recheck this with KDE 2.1 beta2 please? kmix will be able to use OSS 
and ALSA concurrently then. This will probably fix your problems. kmix in 
beta1 and older was often compiled with ALSA support, but OSS drivers. This 
resulted in an empty kmix main window.
