Package: kde
Version: 1.92pre (KDE 2.0)
Severity: grave
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux 2.2.16 i686 (compiled sources)
Hi,
I'm realising problems when using redirection of KDE applications to other X-Servers \
through my private LAN.
I usually work this way: I disable authorization checks on my remote machine (client) \
and telnet then on my "server". There I start an KDE application like kmail and tell \
him by "-display" where to open its GUI.
kmail, for instance, exits immediately, if it is running on the server, yet. Then it \
just flashes that window on the server again.
with a running kmail on my client i tried to open an rtf-document attached with a \
mail. I decided to use kword. This popped up a messagebox, that said, RTF import \
wouldn't be implemented. Well, this is ok, but this messagebox was drawn on the \
server, not on the client.
Even if I redefine DISPLAY on the server before starting kmail, any external viewer - \
even kwrite - draws itself on my servers screen.
