Package: artsd
Version: v1.9.8 (KDE 2.1 post Beta 1)
Severity: grave
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20001229 (prerelease)
OS: Linux 2.4.0-prerelease i686 (Debian Package 4:2.1-20010101-1 (testing/unstable))

I have a Sony VAIO N505VE with a Yamaha YMF744 chip and I am using the ymfpci
driver from the Linux Kernel 2.4.0.

The sound works great with applications like mpg123 but artsd has problems with this driver
(btw. it worked great with the commercial OSS driver): the sound is played _way_ too fast and
only if I set the custom sampling rate to 8000 (the ymfpci driver doesn't support smaller
values like 5133) will the sound become usable (although it is still played too fast, but at least
it beomes possible to identify the sounds).

I am able and willing to help in nailing this one down if I get some pointers...

Ciao, Jens
