Package: kdesktop
Version: v2.0 (KDE 2.0)
Severity: grave

OS: Linux 2.2.16 i686 (compiled sources)
Hi guys,
Short description:
When I have the XOSview running and leave KDE 2.0 and want to restore the session,
the next time I start a KDE 2.0-session, all I see is a grey screen and all I can do \
is to kill the x-server.
The whole story:
I got the KDE 2.0-environment from SuSE (the so-called final release). After \
installation, I startet a KDE 2 session and changed some preferences. Just in case, \
I will try to recall them all:
- Mouse speed changed
- Changed Language settings to german with czech as alternative language
- enabled DPMS (works fine)
- set the Kontroll-bar to the left hand side.
- Changed the background to a single picture
- Set up 8 virtual screens
- Changed the mouse-behaviour on a inaktive inner window to activate & click through
- Set the focus on active under mouse and disabled auto-raise and also disabled raise \
on click
- Icons made to change the color upon mousover
Then I ran some minor programms (some konsoles, Jbuilder 4, killustrator, \
appletviewer, konqueror, XOSview) and logged off, saying that I want the session to \
be restored (so I wouldn't have to restart and reposition the XOSview and the \
consoles again - I need them anyway in most sessions). Oh, by the way, the XOSview \
was pinned to the screen and always on top.
And the next time I logged in, all I got to see was a grey screen and no reaction \
upon clicking somewhere. Well, I repeated the whole procedure (maybe in another \
order, maybe with some other programs, but certainly with the XOSview). And at least, \
I got the Kontrollbar - but still a grey screen.
KDE 2 looks fine and nice, but still I miss some stability in it. I'd highly \
appreciate it, if you could do something about that.
Thanks, JanP
