Subject: Bug#14235: IMAP uses STATUS RECENT, should be STATUS UNSEEN

Package: korn
Version: 0.1 using KDE2.0

Korn uses the IMAP command '%d STATUS mbox (recent)' to find out how
many new
mails there are in the mail box 'mbox'. This seems to work but, at least
on Suns Solstice
IMAP server, the \Recent flag seem to get cleared after an amount of
time (15-30mins?).
This leaves a user that has been away for a while thinking they have no
e-mails.

Korn seems to work better if '%d STATUS mbox (unseen)' is used instead.
Messages
remain unseen until they are read, which seems to be more like what korn
should be
reporting.

Using unseen does have one drawback with Netscape. Message filters that
move a new
message to another folder, do not mark the mail as seen. This is good if
netscape is
automatically downloading files - just 'cus its been moved doesn't mean
its been read,
but even when it has been read it is left marked as unseen deleted.
Unfortunately, IMAP
does not allow STATUS ... (undeleted), but this is a Netscape problem
really.

The files to change are imap.cpp and kbiffimap.cpp - look for recent and
RECENT and
change to unseen and UNSEEN.

Nick.
