Version: 2.0
Severity: grave
Installed from: Source

I am running Linux Kernel version 2.2.14. I have a CMI8338 Onboard Sound Card, I have \
enabled it in the kernel and can play sounds with it. However, when I am running \
KDE2.0, all the sound-related commands will fail to execute. They do not report any \
error, just simply go into deadloop, and don't produce any sound. The commands I \
tested include "play" and "mpg123". kaiman and realplay also will fall into deadloop \
when trying to play anything. If I logout from KDE, and run the commands from the \
command line or from another Desktop such as Afterstep 1.8.1, then they work fine. My \
physical memory is 152M, when I run KDE2.0 with Konqueror and Konsole running, "free" \
reports there are 8M physical memory left free, but there are still more than 100M \
swap space. So what is the problem here? Thank you very much!
