   Hi!

Information/Sound doesn't say anything about whether your sound card will
work under KDE. To see whether your card is supported by KDE, a simple test
can be done.

1) if artsd is already running, it is supported - to check this, type

  ps auxwww |grep arts |grep -v grep

in a konsole window. If it shows something like

  stefan   19922 13.5  1.6  3364 2056 pts/3    S    14:03   0:00 artsd

the sound server is running and you have sound (try kaiman, or kcontrol ->
looknfeel -> system notifications).

2) if artsd is not running, try to start it manually by typing

  artsd

in a konsole window. If you get error messages, let me know. If you don't
artsd works with your soundcard. You can configure it to start automatically
at KDE startup via kcontrol -> sound -> soundserver.

   Cu... Stefan
