Here's a little status report from me regarding the slow message viewer of
kmail (at least mine :-).

I upgraded my system to glibc 2.1.3 yesterday (from glibc 2.1.2) but there
was no effect concerning the speed of the message display, it's still slow.
I even recompiled kmail afterwards (using QT 2.2.0 Beta 2) but there was
no effect either. KMail still needs about 1/2 to 1 second to display a
selected message.

Somehow I think this is not a problem of KMail but of the viewer widget as
Konqueror also seems to render web pages rather slow compared to Netscape.
(Sorry to say this but it's true, at least on my machine :-).
