It doesn't crash anymore, I could even go to selecting what to download.

The download button doesn't work though. 
I get 
khtml (part): trying to create part for application/x-tgz
and then nothing.

Simon, shouldn't khtmlpart still offer 'save' when it can't embed something ?
Or, I mean, simply emitting openUrlRequest so that konqueror can ask "Save" or "Open" \
?

I guess it doesn't work in this case because of it's a site with frames.
