Double clicking on a todo item is already used to open/close subtrees.
Single clicking would interfere with drag and drop. So I think the
context menu is the quickest way to show the todo details. Most of the
information is shown in the list todo view anyway.
I don't think a quicker way can be implemented or have I misunderstood
you?
