Subject: Bug#5464: kdesktop : Dragging an icon to the edge of the screen and attempting to lasso it results

Package: kdesktop
Version: KDE 2.0pre (2000-06-21)
Severity: normal

Hi,

When moving an icon outside the screen, and making a selection of that
icon, the desktop starts to act as if it were "virtual": that is, the
user can move the mouse to the edge of the screen to view extended
desktop area.
This only applies when the user is doing a selection (using click and
drag -- marquee).

This is most obvious with big icons.

1- Drag the icon and move it partly outside the screen, on the right.
2- Click and hold on an empty area on the desktop
(like if you were doing a selection)
3-Bring you selection to the right, trying to select the entire
icon you just moved partly out of the screen.

Result: The desktop acts as if there was a virtual screen,
and the background image gets all screwed up.

This does not happen when trying to put the icon at the left of the
screen, because the icon cannot be moved outside on the left side.

However, the bug can be observed with the top, bottom and right edges.

Thanks.
