Subject: Bug#2198: pppd dies unexpectedly when used with kppp

Package: pppd
Version: 2.3.8

I have been trying to use kppp to connect to
the internet but no matter what set-up I try after connecting to my ISP
and have my username and password sent and receiving a station id (for
me it's "id-wh1>") so the ppp command can be given.

Then I get an error message "The pppd daemon died unexpectedly".

When running error checking after the error I can get the report:

Oct 21 23:26:14 brio pppd[1172]: The remote system is required to
authenticate itself but I
Oct 21 23:26:14 brio pppd[1172]: couldn't find any secret (password)
which would let it use an IP address.

When using kppp I have used just PAP with no script (error occurs faster
not sooner), PAP with a script and just the script.

The script goes as follows and worked with RH 5.0

Expect: Username:
Send: dtw
Expect: Password:
Send: [password]
Expect: id-wh1>
Send: ppp

Suse 6.2 i386 Kernel 2.2.10
