Subject: Bug#1622: kvt doesn't create utmp(4) entry
From: Stefan.Becker () nmp ! nokia ! com

[Download RAW message or body]
Package: kvt
Version: 1.1.2pre
kvt doesn't create an entry in utmp(4) [at least on HP-UX 10.20]. Thus it
is invisible for the "who" command, especially "who -R am I" shows
NOTHING! Our sysadmin have some scripts which use the information from
this command and they now fail miserably :-)
If I understand the system correclty, kvt has to be setuid root to be
able to update utmp(4).
BTW: This is also true for kvt 1.1.1.
Regards,
Stefan
