package: kmail
version: KDE_1_1_BRANCH as of 17Jun1999

I'm using procmail. Some of my procmail rules puts messages into folders in my
$HOME/Mail directory in function of their sender address.

It occured to me that I was just reading mail in one of these folders while
mail was checked in automatically by fetchmail. Some of the entrant messages
ended up in my currently-in-read folder, as requested by the procmail rules.

Normally, in these situations, it is enough to change the folder to another one
and then back and I'm able to see the newest entered messages.

This time, I have hit the "Compact" menu entry, since I had deleted some
messages just before the fetching was fired up. Well, after this "Compact"
command, I was unable to view my new messages in that folder.

The solution was to quit KMail, remove that folder's .index file and then
restart KMail.

Would it be possible to add a "Refresh" command which would rebuild the .index
files on demand?

And, for that matter, toolbar buttons for handling folders would be very handy:
maybe "Compact", "Compact Folders" and "Refresh" will do.
